Tourist BAHIR DAR
Bahir Dar is situated on the banks of Lake Tana, the largest lake (approximately 5500km²) in Ethiopia which is the feeding source of the Blue Nile and at an elevation of 1788m. A boat trip followed by a walk through coffee plantations take you to 14th century monasteries, Urakidane Mehret and Azwa Mariam, with beautiful and colourful interior and mural paintings. During the boat trip you will also move into the Blue Nile, see hippopotamus and feeding of pelicans, as well as observe local fisherman in action from their small papyrus boats.
